Poringalkuthu Dam- Reservoyer

  

Kerala Government has identified  Poringal Kuthu in Hydel Tourism as one of  its nine destinations, attract lakhs of  tourists. Poringal Kuthu dam and Athirappilly are inter connected locations.. Poringal Kuthu is just 11 Kms away from Athirappilly water falls.  On the way to Poringal Kuthu we can see so many natural water falls in the dense forest areas.

How to reach : It is in a distance of 75 Kms from Ernakulam Jn Railway station and a distance of 25 Km from Chalakudy Railway station.  From Nedumpassery International Airport the distance is about 40 Kms .The nearest town is Chalakudy.

 The main attraction of this place is the scenic beauty of nature  and journey in the water  One can enjoy a nice and secenic view of the Dam and the nearby  areas.e. The Speed Boat journey gives us a fantastic thrill.  The vast area of the reservoir  and the green scenery is a wonderful experience  one who visits that place.  We , can also see  wild animals comimg there for drinking water.

There is a  Bungalow  which was  constructed during the time of starting the  Hydro-electric project, before independence. We can expeience the  view of the reservoir and the adjoining areas from there.

The Boating facilities are provided from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and the various rates/tariff are:

Speed boat: Rs. 300 for 15 minute trip ( Max.5 persons)

Drifting Coffee Shop: Rs. 200 for 15 minute trip ( Max.5 persons)

Pedal boats : Rs.60/- for 30 minutes ( Max. 2 persons)

Entrance Pass for adults with Colour Souvenir Post card : Rs. 10 /-

Entrance Pass for children with illustrative colour playing card : Rs. 5/-

Cafeteria serving hot & cold beverages like Coffee, Tea, Cappuccino, Mochachino, Badam Milk, Noodles etc. is also facilitated.

(Life Jackets are provided and have been made compulsory for boating)
