Kanjirappuzha Dam
is in the Palakkad District and is is 25
km from Palakkad town. In the route of
Palakkad – Kozhikode before reaching
mannarkad take a direction to Right from
Chirakkal padi, From there only 8 Kms to
reach Kanjirapuzha dam . The road is through the Rubber plantations and through
the shades of big trees covering the places ‘Ambazhakode’ and ‘Kanjiram’. When we are approaching more we can see the
clear vision of the Attappadi Hills. The journey is to the eastern side of
Vakkodan Hills. Here on the way the
paddy fields and coconut plantations are
usual scenes. Then comes the small junction named Varmakode. From here a walk will lead to the
Kanjrampuzha dam area. Kanjirampuzha is surrounded by the hills of
western ghats. And is surrounded by the
evergreen forest- vettichola-. . This
forest and the surrounding hilly areas provide the catchment area of the dam. Half
an hour walk is enough to reach the dam site.
The steep path some times may trouble the aged people. The way to dam
site is through the Employees quarters.
From there the shutters of the dam can be seen.
This place is one of the lonely place of dam site that I have ever seen. However shooting of films and albums are a daily routine. The blue water fountain the garden is a
special attraction to the visitors. The vast meadows and big pine trees attracts
so many visitors. So many cement benches
are arranged in the garden for sitting.
Large swings and siso are also
fitted in the garden. The sunset from
here is fantastic experience. Before
dark we also left from there.
I have taken some photographs from there. Just see.
