Mannarassala Ayilyam- Mannarassala Nagaraja Temple, Mannarassala Amma.

Tens of thousands of devotees congregated at the famous Mannarassala Nagaraja Temple to pay rituals on the day of Aayilyam here, Saturday.

Mannarassala Amma, the holy mother, gave the customary 'darshan' to devotees at Mannarassala Illam from 8.00 a.m.

There will be Prasadamoottu, a ritualistic feeding of devotees, at a school near the temple from 11.00 a.m..

The main event of religious procession from the temple commences in the afternoon, in which 'Amma' Umadevi Antharjanam of Mannarassala Illam will carry the idols of the holy face and hood of the Nagaraja, the God of snakes. Her sister Savitri Antharjanam will carry the idol of Sarppayakshiyamma.

Subrahamanyan Namboothiri, the elder in the Illam will carry the idol of Nagachamundiyamma in the procession and Parameshwaran Namboothiri will carry the idol of Nagayakshiyamma.

Usual poojas of 'Amma' will begin once the procession reaches the Illam followed by Aayilyam poojas, which may extend up to past midnight and after that, with a special ritual called 'Thattinmel Noorum Paalum', Aayilyam draws to a close.
